Coming off his company’s record year for revenue, Leslie Doggett remained philosophical, if not optimistic, about addressing the twin challenges of a pandemic and plunging oil prices.

His company, Leslie Doggett Industries, was Houston’s ninth-largest private company by revenue last year. It grossed $1.8 billion in 2019 on the combination of 20 percent organic growth and the acquisition of companies such as Lone Star Ford (now Doggett Ford) in 2018 and the 2019 purchase of El Paso-based heavy-duty trailer dealer Truck Enterprises and the Great Dane Trailer distributor for the El Paso, Laredo and McAllen/Pharr region.

High-Water Mark with Max Foote Construction

Rankin County, Mississippi, is growing. Until recently, the nearby city of Jackson had been responsible for water and wastewater treatment in the area, but county officials decided to build their own plant. It’s a decision-making process industry professionals affectionately call “counting toilets” and, now that the toilets have been counted, it’s time for the Max Foote Construction team to do what they do best.

Max Foote Construction is headquartered in Mandeville, Louisiana, just across Lake Pontchartrain from New Orleans, but its projects take crews to locations throughout the southeastern United States. “If there’s an SEC [Southeastern Conference] football team in the state, we work there,” President Danny Russell says. “We usually run 10 to 12 water and wastewater treatment projects at a time — and they can range anywhere from $5 million to $75 million, like this plant here in Rankin County.”

How Doggett Freightliner was able to build a Successful Dealer Award-winning operation after a 2018 acquisition

A revolution is underway at Doggett Freightliner of Arkansas. It started last May when the company was acquired by Leslie Doggett Industries and brought into the Doggett Truck Group family of dealerships.

Before the sale, the North Little Rock facility had been a steady, successful Freightliner dealer for 30 years, says General Manager Brett Graves, serving a diverse customer base throughout central Arkansas. When the transaction was announced, Graves says the news was met with excitement but also some apprehension by the dealership’s employees. Associates were eager about the new challenge but aware the status quo they’d become accustomed to would shift.
